To all couples, regardless of marital status, Happy Valentines Day. To those single like me, Happy Valentine's Day too and I hope that you will soon find your Mister or Miss Right. :P
Valentine's Day is meant to be warm and romantic. Love is in the air. not just for couples, of course. You can love your family, friends, pets, and whatever or whichever or whoever you are passionate on. EVERYTHING!
However, a newspaper article recently caught my attention. I'm going to keep every single party or character in the news anonymous for safety...
P*S is to launch activities put a stop to the Valentine celebrations around the nation. The reason? Valentine's Day celebration disrupts the society and is against the laws of Islam. It could also give rise to various society problems.
Obviously the entire news is not that short... -.- I simply summarized it.
I am no Muslim, thus I am not going to criticize on the religion or teachings or anything in between. Nevertheless, I am kind of tempted to speak my mind out on this.
Hello, Valentine's Day is just an age-old, traditional celebration okay?
Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia on the origins of Valentine's Day:
Saint Valentine's Day, commonly shortened to Valentine's Day, is a holiday observed on February 14 honoring one or more early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). ]The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. It was first established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD, and was later deleted from the General Roman Calendar of saints in 1969 by Pope Paul VI.
Valentine's Day is not just for couples. It is for EVERYONE! Anyone can receive chocolates, teddy bears, roses or love messages.
Valentine's Day is obviously NOT a day for hard-partying or any unspeakable activity. It is all about love. LOVE. And the meaning of love is just simply vast. Take note, society problems do not just happen on Valentine's Day, it happens EVERYDAY...
The more the restriction on nonsense, the worse the particular concerned matter will be.
Too much restrictions will backfire actually. People, especially youths do not like to be controlled too much, or they will rebel. Religious education and a loving family are the best ways to curb social problems.

To some, Valentine's Day is everyday. You know when you are infatuated with someone or deeply showered in the colours of romance.
Conclusion: Valentine's Day must go on by hook or by crook! Celebrate it in moderation, and of course, being sober. Valentine's Day is never a disaster (which I heard of so far for my seventeen years on Earth)!
